London Teen Charged with Stunt Driving After School Bus Incident

London Police Service

A man is facing charges after what police say was dangerous driving around a school bus in London.

According to the London Police Service, someone called in a complaint about the September 24 incident. Police tracked down the driver and laid charges.

The 19-year-old is charged with stunt driving and failing to stop for a school bus. His licence is suspended for 30 days and his vehicle’s been impounded for 14 days.

Those penalties kick in immediately, before any court date. That’s standard for stunt driving charges in Ontario.

Police say the stunt driving charge can cover things like excessive speeding, racing, or dangerous moves on public roads. Paired with the school bus violation, it suggests the driving was pretty reckless.

The London Police Service thanked whoever reported the incident. Community tips help them nail down these cases, especially when kids’ safety is involved.

If you see sketchy driving around school buses, you can report it online at londonpolice.ca/services/make-a-report. Police say they’re prioritizing school bus safety, particularly during back-to-school season when routes get busy again.

When a school bus has its stop sign out and red lights flashing, traffic in both directions has to stop. You don’t move until the bus does and the lights go off.

The 19-year-old will go through the court system to answer to the charges.
