A London man is facing theft and assault charges after an incident that played out over two days last week, giving major “return to the scene of the crime” energy.
Austin Samuel Harrison, 29, was arrested after allegedly stealing a package from a home on Victoria Drive and then returning to the same spot the following day — which honestly wasn’t the smartest move.
According to the London Police Service, the initial theft happened on Monday, April 14, when a male suspect was spotted taking a package from the porch of a residence on Victoria Drive before fleeing on a bicycle.
In a plot twist straight out of a crime show, the homeowner spotted what appeared to be the same suspect hanging around in front of their home the very next day. When confronted about the previous day’s theft, things escalated quickly.
Police say the suspect brandished a knife and pointed it at the homeowner during the confrontation.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in the incident.
Officers responded to the scene, locating and arresting the suspect nearby. During the arrest, police discovered the man was also wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Harrison now faces charges of theft under $5,000 and assault with a weapon. He’s scheduled to appear in London court on May 27, 2025.
The London Police Service is asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (519) 661-5670 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online anonymously to London Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
