The London Torch Run team, comprised of members from the London Police Service and the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre, hit the hardwood for a friendly scrimmage against Western University’s Unified Basketball Team this week.

The special match-up brought together Special Olympics athletes and university students for an unforgettable day of hoops and happiness.

According to the London Police Service’s social media, the court was absolutely buzzing with “competition, teamwork, and smiles” throughout the event.

The Western Unified Basketball program pairs students with Special Olympics athletes, creating an inclusive sporting environment that breaks down barriers through the universal language of sport.
