A routine shopping trip turned chaotic Wednesday evening when a 28-year-old London man allegedly assaulted both a loss prevention officer and a police officer after being confronted about concealed merchandise.
Nicholas Tulk of London is facing multiple charges following an incident at a business near Baseline Road and Wharncliffe Road South on April 16, 2025.
According to London Police, the suspect entered the store around 8 p.m. and began selecting items from shelves, some of which he allegedly concealed in a bag. He then proceeded to the checkout area where he paid only for the items he was openly carrying.
A vigilant loss prevention officer who had observed the alleged concealment approached Tulk as he attempted to leave the store, requesting payment for the hidden merchandise. Police reports indicate that instead of complying, the suspect allegedly assaulted the loss prevention officer before fleeing the scene on foot.
Police were quickly dispatched and located the suspect nearby. When officers informed him he was under arrest, he allegedly resisted and assaulted one of the responding officers. A subsequent search revealed the stolen merchandise.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
Tulk has been charged with robbery, assaulting a peace officer, and resisting arrest. He remains in custody and was scheduled to appear in London court on Thursday, April 17, 2025, to face these charges.
