A weekend argument in London’s north end escalated into a robbery that left two victims injured and three teenagers facing serious charges.
The incident unfolded on Saturday, June 21, when police received a call about three male youths arguing with two other males in the area of North Center Road and Fanshawe Park Road East. What started as a heated exchange quickly turned violent when the three suspects allegedly assaulted the victims and made off with their belongings.
According to the London Police Service investigation, the five individuals knew each other before the confrontation began. During the altercation, the suspects stole cellphones, money, and personal belongings from the two victims.
The situation became even more serious when one of the suspects threatened the victims with what appeared to be a black handgun before all three fled the scene on foot. The victims sustained minor injuries that didn’t require medical attention.
Despite an immediate response from uniformed officers, the suspects had already disappeared by the time police arrived. The case was then handed over to the London Police Service Street Crime Unit, who took a different approach to tracking down the perpetrators.
Investigators reviewed video surveillance footage from the area, which helped them confirm the identities of the three suspects. Their detective work paid off quickly – by Sunday, June 22, all three teenagers were located and arrested.
During the arrest, officers discovered that one of the suspects was carrying a black imitation handgun, confirming the victims’ accounts of being threatened with what they believed was a real weapon.
The charges reflect the severity of the incident. A 17-year-old London youth faces the most serious allegations: armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon, uttering threats of death or bodily harm, and resisting arrest. His 14-year-old London accomplice was charged with robbery and failing to comply with a release order. The third suspect, a 17-year-old from Arva, faces one count of robbery.
Due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, none of the accused can be publicly identified.
The two London teenagers are scheduled to appear in court on June 25, 2025, while the Arva youth will face his charges on July 28, 2025.
Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
