London police have identified two suspects they’re actively searching for in connection with a pair of thefts that happened at a north end business earlier this year.
Julie Marshall, 21, and Scott Robert Whitton, 40, both London residents, are now facing charges but their current whereabouts remain unknown. Police have issued warrants for their arrest and are asking the public to help track them down.
The whole thing started back in January when a woman walked into a business near Fanshawe Park Road and Adelaide Street North on two separate occasions. The first incident happened on Monday, January 6th around 1:20 p.m., when she simply walked in, grabbed some merchandise, and bolted on foot.
But here’s where it gets interesting – she came back just three days later. On Thursday, January 9th at about 9:30 a.m., a security officer at the same store recognized her from the previous theft as soon as she walked through the door. The officer watched as she pulled the same move, stealing items and fleeing on foot with the stolen goods.
Police were called immediately and got a description of the suspect, but officers couldn’t locate her at the time. The case was then handed over to the London Police Service Street Crime Unit for further investigation.
Fast forward to this week, and investigators have now connected Marshall to these incidents. They’ve also linked Scott Robert Whitton to the case, though police haven’t specified exactly how he’s involved. Both suspects are now jointly charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.
If you’re wondering what these two look like, police have provided detailed descriptions. Marshall is described as a white female, about 5’5″ with a thin build, shoulder-length black wavy hair, and brown eyes. During the January incidents, she was spotted wearing a knee-length black coat with a hood, light-coloured shirt, black pants, and black boots with fur trim.
Whitton is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and 200 pounds with a medium build. He has shoulder-length brown hair, light facial hair, and green eyes.
Police have released photos of both suspects and are emphasizing that people should not approach them if spotted. Instead, they’re asking anyone who sees either Marshall or Whitton to call 911 immediately.
The investigation is still ongoing, and police are encouraging anyone with information about these thefts or the suspects’ whereabouts to contact the London Police Service at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online anonymously through London Middlesex Crime Stoppers.
