London police are asking for the public’s help after a woman was sexually assaulted and threatened at gunpoint in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The incident happened between 1:30 and 2 a.m. on June 21st when a woman working as a sex worker was approached by a man in a vehicle near the 100-block of Rectory Street. After engaging in conversation, the woman entered the suspect’s vehicle in a nearby parking lot.
Things took a terrifying turn when the man produced what appeared to be a handgun and made threats toward the woman. He then drove to a lot in the 600-block of Trafalgar Street where he sexually assaulted and physically assaulted her.
The victim managed to escape from the car and fled to a nearby house where she contacted a family member for help. She transported herself to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries before police were contacted.
The suspect is described as a Brown male in his 30s, approximately 5’11” with a medium, fit build. He was clean-shaven with shoulder-length thick black hair and was wearing a t-shirt and black jogging pants at the time of the incident.
He was driving a silver or grey 4-door sedan, and police have released images of the suspect vehicle to help with identification.
The case has been reassigned to the London Police Service’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Section, who are actively investigating. Police are urging anyone with information, dash-cam footage, or video surveillance that could help identify the suspect or vehicle to come forward.
The London Police Service emphasized their commitment to protecting all community members and encouraging vigilance in reporting suspicious behaviour.
