One person is dead after a house fire on Caprice Crescent Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to a structure fire in the 20 block of Caprice Crescent around 5:03 PM. Smoke and flames were already visible when firefighters arrived on scene.

Crews immediately started firefighting and rescue operations.

Despite the quick response, resuscitation efforts weren’t successful. The London Fire Department confirmed the death in their final incident update and sent condolences to the family.

Fire investigators have been called to determine what started the blaze and how it happened.

The fire caused an estimated $250,000 in property damage, according to fire department officials. Crews completed ventilation procedures as part of their firefighting operations.

Firefighters have now cleared the scene after completing emergency response and initial investigation work.
