This London Man’s Weekend Joyride in a Stolen Car Ended Pretty Badly

A 44-year-old London man learned the hard way that stealing cars and ramming police vehicles doesn’t exactly scream “great life choices” after his weekend adventure ended with him in handcuffs and facing a laundry list of charges.

The whole situation went down in the early hours of Saturday morning when a London Police Service Canine Unit officer spotted something suspicious around 3 a.m. in a parking lot near Rectory Street and Hamilton Road. We’re talking about that dead-of-night hour when most people are either sound asleep or making questionable decisions at the drive-thru.

The officer noticed a vehicle just sitting there running, which honestly sounds pretty sketchy for that time of night. But here’s where things get interesting – a quick check revealed that this wasn’t just any random car hanging out in a parking lot. This particular vehicle had been reported stolen to police five days earlier on June 2nd.

Now, you’d think most people would maybe surrender gracefully when caught red-handed with a stolen vehicle, but Colin Terrance Carville apparently had other plans. When the officer flicked on those emergency lights, Carville decided his best bet was to ram the front of the police vehicle. Multiple times. Because apparently once wasn’t enough to really make his point.

After his impromptu bumper car session failed to work out as planned, Carville ditched the vehicle and tried to make a run for it on foot. Spoiler alert: that didn’t work out much better for him. Officers caught up with him pretty quickly, and his brief stint as a fugitive came to an end just a short distance away.

The charges against Carville read like a greatest hits album of poor decision-making. He’s facing possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, and resisting arrest. But wait, there’s more – he’s also got five separate counts of operation while prohibited and a breach of probation charge thrown in for good measure.

Carville was scheduled to appear in London court on June 10th to face all these charges. The London Police Service is asking anyone with information about this incident to give them a call at 519-661-5670 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

The whole ordeal really makes you wonder what was going through someone’s head during those crucial moments when they decided ramming a police car was somehow going to improve their situation. Sometimes the best-laid plans of mice and car thieves really do go awry.
